Puebla
On the Other Side of the Volcano
The great Popocatepetl volcano separates Mexico City from Puebla. As home to the iconic Talavera pottery, the awe-inspiring Great Pyramid of Cholula, and the beautifully preserved historic center of Puebla City, this state is a testament to Mexico's rich and diverse heritage. From the colorful festivals that celebrate its indigenous roots to the mouthwatering flavors of its world-renowned cuisine, Puebla offers a sensory feast for the soul. Puebla City is a thriving capital home to more than 200 churches, and oftentimes used as the gateway to the states of Oaxaca and Veracruz. Hidden between the mountain ranges of the Sierra Norte are villages with unique characteristics, all connected by the same route towards the tropical state of Veracruz.
